Bahar Yamini-Sharif was born in Tehran in 1952. After spending much time travelling as a child, Bahar developed a love for colour and texture, as well as a great fascination with culture. She began her education in Iran, studying Child Psychology at Meli University, however, she showed a great interest in the arts and studied it privately under the mastership of Aydin Aghdashloo and Parvaneh Etemadi. Following the Islamic Revolution and the eight-year war, Bahar moved to England, where she found the freedom to study the arts. Inspired by her country and its fruitful bearing of poetry, in particular that of Sohrab Sepehri, Bahar went on to study Fine Art and Sculpture at both The London Institute and Middlesex University, as well as a Masters in Media and Film at Westminster University.
She is now a full-time artist working from her studio in London and enjoys bringing the paper to life with strong and vibrant colours and narratives, very often influenced by her travels and Middle-Eastern heritage.
